Oman, Egypt Hold Consultations on Regional Escalation, Stress Diplomatic Solutions
Muscat, The Gul Observer: The Sultanate of Oman and the Arab Republic of Egypt held a round of political consultations on Monday, during which both sides expressed deep concern over the ongoing military escalation in the region and emphasized the urgent need to halt the conflict.
The consultations took place during a meeting between Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi and Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates.
During the meeting, the two ministers reviewed the latest developments related to the current military escalation and its widening scope. They voiced serious concern over the situation and underscored the paramount importance of stopping the escalation and working toward ending the war.
Both sides stressed the necessity of strengthening political and diplomatic solutions and prioritizing dialogue and reason in order to prevent the region from sliding into further instability and chaos as a result of continued conflict.
The ministers renewed their rejection and condemnation of all military actions targeting Arab countries, emphasizing the need for the immediate cessation of such actions. They also highlighted the importance of maintaining good neighbourly relations and reinforcing the principles of regional cooperation.
Furthermore, Oman and Egypt agreed to continue their joint efforts aimed at promoting political and diplomatic solutions to safeguard regional and international peace and security. They reaffirmed the importance of adhering to the Charter of the United Nations, international law, and international humanitarian law.
During the meeting, Dr. Abdelatty expressed Egypt’s appreciation for the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, commending Oman’s mediation efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions and advancing political solutions in the region.
In turn, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi praised the strong cooperation and coordination between Oman and Egypt, highlighting the joint diplomatic efforts undertaken by both countries to support regional security and stability and to advance political solutions to ongoing crises.
