Oman Elected to UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women

New York City, The Gulf Observer: The Sultanate of Oman has been elected to the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) for the 2025-2028 term. The elections were held during the twenty-third meeting of States Parties to the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women at the UN headquarters in New York.

Oman will be represented on the committee by Engineer Hamida bint Salloum Al-Shukairiya, Director of the Rural Development Department at the Ministry of Agricultural Wealth, Fisheries, and Water Resources. Her election highlights Oman’s commitment to advancing women’s rights and its growing influence in international forums dedicated to gender equality.
