Oman Engages in Arab Telecommunication Ministers Council Meeting
Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, actively participated in the 27th session of the Arab Telecommunications and Information Council of Ministers (ATICM) meeting held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Headed by Dr. Ahmed Hilal Al Busaidi, the Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Arab Emirates, Oman’s delegation engaged in discussions covering a spectrum of pertinent topics related to telecommunications and information technology.
In his address during the event, Ambassador Al Busaidi underscored Oman’s dedicated efforts in advancing the communications and information technology sector. He emphasized key initiatives such as the Digital Economy Programme and the government’s strategies for economic diversification, reflecting Oman’s commitment to technological progress.
The meeting provided a platform for the conferees to delve into significant issues, including the Arab cybersecurity system and applications in the realm of artificial intelligence. These discussions aimed to address and strategize around evolving challenges and opportunities within the rapidly advancing landscape of telecommunications and information technology.
Of noteworthy mention was the attention given to the challenges faced by the Palestinian communications sector due to the enduring occupation and aggression. The participants engaged in dialogue to understand and navigate the obstacles posed to telecommunications infrastructure in the region.
