Oman Engages in UNESCO Executive Board’s 219th Session

Paris, The Gulf Observer: The Sultanate of Oman actively participated in the tasks of the 219th session of the UNESCO Executive Board, convened in Paris from March 13 to 27, 2024. Represented by Dr. Hamad Saif Al Hamami, the Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to UNESCO, Oman contributed to discussions addressing critical global issues and advocating for the interests of its nation and the broader international community.
During his address at the session, Dr. Al Hamami highlighted Oman’s recent membership to the UNESCO Executive Board for the period 2023-2027, affirming the nation’s commitment to advancing UNESCO’s mission of promoting education, culture, and science worldwide.
Central to Oman’s interventions was its stance on the Palestinian crisis, which Dr. Al Hamami emphasized as a matter of paramount global concern. Oman called for urgent measures to halt the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip and other Palestinian territories, underscoring the imperative of upholding international law to protect civilians, address their humanitarian needs, and lift the illegal blockade on Gaza and other Palestinian regions.
