Oman participates in 2023 UN Sustainable Development Goals Summit
New York, The Gulf Observer: Based on the royal mandate of His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik, His Excellency Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, headed the Sultanate of Oman’s delegation to the Sustainable 2023 Development Goals Summit, which began its work today at the United Nations headquarters in New York.
His Excellency the Foreign Minister delivered the Sultanate of Oman’s speech at the opening of the summit, during which he conveyed the greetings of His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik and his appreciation for the efforts made in organising this important summit.
His Excellency stressed that this event comes at a time when the importance of joint efforts to achieve sustainable development and improve the reality of life in all its aspects towards achieving the goals of sustainable development on all axes is increasing.
The Foreign Minister said that the Sultanate is making tangible efforts towards achieving the sustainable development goals, as it has made technology, science and digital transformation an essential part of its national strategies and legislation. Pointing out that it is hoped that the Sultanate of Oman will submit its second voluntary national report in 2024, which will highlight its strong commitment to achieving the goals and continuing comprehensive progress in various social, economic, scientific, and environmental and renewable energy fields.
His Excellency stressed that the Sultanate of Oman’s path towards achieving sustainable development goals, as stipulated in Oman Vision 2040, reflects its strong commitment to science, technology and innovation. In addition to supporting international efforts and cooperation to transfer knowledge and technology and facilitate investment and job opportunities to ensure a safe and prosperous future for all, indicating that integration and cooperation between various sectors is necessary and requires a good understanding of challenges and opportunities, and the development of innovative solutions.
