Oman Participates in Preparatory Meeting for Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit

Doha, The Gulf Observer: The Sultanate of Oman took part on Sunday in the preparatory ministerial meeting for the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit, held in Doha, State of Qatar.
The Omani delegation was led by Sheikh Khalifa Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Political Affairs, and included Abdullah Nasser Al Rahbi, Oman’s Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Sheikh Faisal Omar Al Marhoon, Head of the Arab Department at the Foreign Ministry, along with other officials.
The meeting focused on the recent Israeli attack on Qatar, which targeted the residential headquarters of several Hamas leaders. Discussions centered on the grave repercussions of this aggression for regional security and stability. Participants sought to forge a unified Arab and Islamic stance on these urgent developments, with the aim of bolstering solidarity and safeguarding the region. A draft statement addressing the Israeli attack on Qatar was also reviewed for submission to the heads of Arab and Islamic states at the summit scheduled for Monday.
In his address, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, described the attack as a blatant violation of international conventions and diplomatic norms. He stressed that the international community’s failure to hold Israel accountable has emboldened its actions and warned that peace and security will remain elusive until the Palestinian people achieve their legitimate rights.
Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit denounced the Israeli assault on Qatar as treacherous, cowardly, and reckless, condemning the international silence that, he said, only encourages further violations.
Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretary-General Hussein Ibrahim also expressed full solidarity with Qatar in the wake of the aggression and underscored the need for decisive measures against Israel.
