Oman ranks 138 out of 143 countries in Global Crime Index

Muscat, The GulfObserver: The Sultanate of Oman has been ranked among the countries with the lowest crime rate, according to the Global Crime Index for the year 2023, which was recently issued by the global database “Numbeo”.

The Sultanate of Oman ranked fifth in the world in terms of its low crime rate, with 19.7%. It was ranked with Qatar which is the topper of the lowest crime rate among world countries with 14% , followed by United Arab Emirates with 15.1%, Taiwan (China) with 16.2% and the Isle of Man, which is located between the United Kingdom and Ireland, with 18%.

The crime rate in the Sultanate of Oman was only 19.7 percent, which reflects its high safety rate.

The highest crime rate in the world is found in Venezuela, followed by Papua New Guinea, Afghanistan and South Africa.

The index relies on several criteria, such as murder, theft, robbery and rape. It ranks countries on a scale ranging from zero to 100, closer a country is to zero, the crime rates are the lowest, like wise these rates rise if a country’s evaluation approaches 100.
