Oman Showcases Investment Opportunities at St. Petersburg International Economic Forum

Muscat, The Gulf Observer: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Investment Promotion and the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, participated as a guest of honor in the 27th edition of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. Partnering with several public and private sector institutions, Oman highlighted its integrated business environment and investment opportunities in priority sectors.

Oman also took part in the accompanying exhibition to explore new markets for Omani exports and strengthen economic and trade relations globally. His Excellency Qais bin Muhammad Al-Yousef, Minister of Trade, Industry, and Investment Promotion, led the Omani delegation. He emphasized the commitment of Omani government agencies and the private sector to discuss economic cooperation and expand trade and investment opportunities. He noted that Oman’s participation aimed to achieve strategic economic goals and leverage its unique competitive advantages as a premier destination for trade and investment.

His Excellency Hamoud bin Salem Al Tuwaih, Ambassador of Oman to Russia, highlighted the focus on the private sector and the promising opportunities bolstered by incentives and initiatives. He pointed to potential cooperation with Russia in sectors such as food security, technology, and petrochemicals, while also targeting the Russian market for tourism.

On the forum’s sidelines, the Omani-Russian Forum was organized to promote investment and commercial ties between Oman and Russia. This included direct bilateral meetings between Omani companies and their Russian counterparts. Additionally, an Omani company signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance legal cooperation, and another Omani firm specializing in information security signed an MoU with a Russian company to develop joint cybersecurity capabilities and improve local expertise.

Oman’s participation in the forum allowed representatives from various government agencies to engage in discussion panels and dialogue sessions on key sectors. Topics included the financial sector’s role in supporting strategic partnerships, enhancing logistics and commercial corridors, and sustainable city development.

In conjunction with the forum, the National Museum of Oman, in partnership with the Russian State Hermitage Museum, hosted an Omani evening as part of the “Oman Hall” initiative. This event aimed to introduce Oman’s rich history and highlight the historical ties between Oman and Russia.
