Oman to Celebrate Omani Women’s Day on October 17
Muscat, The Gulf Observer: The Sultanate of Oman is set to celebrate Omani Women’s Day on Thursday, October 17, focusing this year’s event on the fields of culture, literature, and manuscripts.
The celebration will feature an operetta titled Hawa of Oman (Omani Woman) and will honor several prominent female figures who have made significant contributions in these areas.
Wadha Salim Al Alawi, Director of Women Affairs at the Ministry of Social Development, emphasized that the observance of Omani Women’s Day reflects the Sultanate’s commitment to supporting Omani women. She noted that this initiative recognizes their vital role in the country’s renaissance and comprehensive development, in alignment with the Royal Directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, aimed at enhancing women’s capabilities and providing them with ample opportunities within the context of the Blessed Renaissance.
Al Alawi highlighted that this year’s focus on culture, literature, and manuscripts aims to showcase the contributions of Omani women in these fields on national, regional, and international platforms.
Additionally, she pointed out that Muscat has been declared the Capital of Arab Women 2024, a decision made during the 43rd Session of the Arab Women’s Committee at the Arab League, which Oman chaired at the beginning of 2024. This recognition aims to promote a conducive environment for innovation and intellectual property among women in Oman, further underscoring the nation’s commitment to empowering women.
