Oman to Celebrate Omani Youth Day

Muscat, The Gulf Observer: The Sultanate of Oman will commemorate Omani Youth Day on October 26, reaffirming His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik’s dedication to empowering the nation’s youth, whom he considers “the wealth of nations and their inexhaustible resource, and their arms that build.” This annual celebration emphasizes the vital role youth play in the nation’s development and future prosperity.

Under the auspices of His Highness Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports, and Youth, the national ceremony will take place at the Oman Across Ages Museum in Manah, Al Dakhiliyah Governorate. The event will honor young achievers through the Youth Excellence Award 2024, aimed at recognizing the significant contributions of Omani youth to society, fostering competition, and encouraging skill development to cultivate a responsible, innovative, and proactive generation.

This year, the Youth Excellence Award spans five categories: individuals, youth institutions, civil society organizations, private sector companies supporting youth, and includes various fields such as the digital economy, digital media, environmental initiatives, employment, entrepreneurship, and youth-led initiatives. The award highlights outstanding efforts to support Omani youth and build a resilient society.

In addition to the awards, the ceremony will feature the inauguration of new Youth Center branches across Oman, enhancing accessibility and inclusiveness for all youth groups nationwide. Several cooperation and partnership agreements will also be signed, reinforcing collaborative efforts to advance youth development initiatives.

According to official statistics from the Youth Center, the total number of beneficiaries reached 110,361 by the end of September this year, with 101,600 utilizing the center’s spaces and 8,761 engaged in programs. The center has also contracted 309 small and medium enterprises and conducted 107 training programs as of September, underscoring Oman’s commitment to youth empowerment and sustainable development.
