Muscat, The Gulf Observer: Oman is set to host the inaugural edition of the International Occupational Health Summit (IOHS 2024) from February 4 to 7, 2024, at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre. The summit underscores Oman’s steadfast commitment to advancing occupational health concerns and implementing global best practices.

The theme of the summit, revealed during a press conference in Muscat today, is ‘Towards Sustainable Health Excellence at the Workplace’. Held under the patronage of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals in collaboration with the Oman Energy Association (OPAL), the event has garnered support from the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Labour, World Health Organization, and several private entities.

IOHS 2024 aims to address local, regional, and global occupational health standards, placing a strong emphasis on effective management of worker well-being across various aspects, including occupational health, workplace safety, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, and related areas.

The primary objective is to establish a global platform for occupational health in the region, showcasing international standards, best practices, innovation, and technology. The summit will bring together leaders, medical officers, professionals, regulators, hygienists, academics, consultants, students, and stakeholders with a focus on safeguarding labor and creating healthy work environments.

In addition to providing insights into global occupational health standards, IOHS 2024 will spotlight the Sultanate of Oman’s role and efforts in occupational health on local, regional, and global scales. The summit aspires to position Oman as a leader in achieving world-class occupational health standards and practices across various industry sectors, reinforcing its commitment to fostering a safe, healthy, and highly productive workforce.

The summit’s extensive program will feature over 50 companies from diverse local and international organizations. Attendees can expect a rich agenda comprising 4 keynote sessions, 6 panel discussions, 18 technical sessions, and 3 pre-conference workshops. IOHS 2024 anticipates active participation from stakeholders dedicated to shaping the future of occupational health and well-being.
