Oman, UK discuss various aspects to enhance trade exchange

Muscat, The Gulf Observer: Qais Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, held a meeting on Wednesday at Invest Oman Lounge with Nigel Huddleston, Minister of State at the Department of Business and Trade in the United Kingdom (UK).

During the meeting, the ministers discussed various aspects of joint cooperation between the two friendly countries, reviewed indicators of growth in trade exchange and the progress made in negotiations of the free trade agreement between GCC states and the UK.

Meanwhile, Nasser Khamis Al Jashmi, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Finance, Head of the Omani side in the Omani-British Strategic Advisory Group, and Mohsin Hamad Al Hadhrami, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, also conferred with Huddleston.

Discussions during the meeting covered cooperation in the field of trade, renewable energy and green hydrogen, as well as the tasks of the Omani-British Strategic Advisory Group.

Huddleston is expected to attend the 65th GCC Commercial Cooperation Committee’s meeting, scheduled to be held in Salalah on Thursday and to discuss the GCC-UK free trade agreement.
