Oman’s Royal Army Skydiving Team Triumphs at World Championship
Sölnok, The Gulf Observer: The National Skydiving Team of the Royal Army of Oman achieved remarkable success at the 2024 World Military Skydiving Championship (SESM), securing first place in the Arab and Gulf countries categories, third in Asia, and tenth in the world. The prestigious competition, held in the city of Sölnok, Hungary, concluded after an intense 10-day event.
The forty-sixth edition of the World Military Skydiving Championship saw participation from over 400 jumpers representing more than 40 countries. The National Skydiving Team distinguished itself with advanced placements in various rounds, showcasing high technical skill and precision in target accuracy.
This participation underscores the Royal Army of Oman’s commitment to rigorous training and preparation. The team’s success is a testament to the leadership’s focus on enhancing performance, physical fitness, and technical expertise in military sports.
Parachutist Lieutenant Colonel Saif bin Salem Al-Tobi, head of the National Skydiving Team delegation, commented on the team’s journey: “The National Skydiving Team participated in this championship alongside 45 teams from various countries. Our initial preparations began on home soil, followed by an external training camp in the Republic of Slovenia. We also participated in the European Cup Championship (Bled) in Slovenia to gear up for this event.”
He praised the team’s efforts and performance during the competition, noting their commendable results at both regional and global levels.
Captain Parachutist Abdul Rahim bin Muftah Al Riyami, leader of the National Skydiving Team, expressed pride in their achievements: “The National Skydiving Team of the Royal Army of Oman has added another feather to its cap. With its high skills, the team secured tenth place globally in target accuracy at the 46th World Military Championship (SESM) in Hungary, ranking third in Asia and first among Gulf and Arab countries.”
