Oracle Executive VP Pays Courtesy Call to Discuss $6.5 Billion Cloud Investment in Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur, The Gulf Observer: This evening, Mr. Garrett Ilg, Executive Vice President for Japan and Asia Pacific at Oracle Corporation, paid a courtesy visit along with his delegation to discuss the tech giant’s substantial investment plans in Malaysia.
Oracle, one of the world’s leading computing technology companies, had announced in October last year its intention to invest over USD 6.5 billion in establishing a public cloud region in Malaysia. The investment includes the development of over 150 infrastructure services and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) offerings, aimed at boosting the country’s digital economy and fostering innovation powered by artificial intelligence (AI).
During the discussion, both parties explored the potential of AI-driven services, including those offered by Oracle. The conversation also addressed the importance of strengthening Malaysia’s talent and innovation ecosystem, particularly through initiatives focused on upskilling the workforce with relevant digital competencies and enhancing digital inclusivity.
In a time of growing global uncertainty, exacerbated by tariff-related tensions, Malaysia expressed its deep appreciation for Oracle’s continued commitment to realizing its planned investments. The country reaffirmed its support for all efforts that contribute to the growth of a resilient, inclusive, and forward-looking digital economy.
