Over 2 Million Pilgrims Observe Tarwiyah Day in Mina

Mina, The Gulf Observer: More than 2 million pilgrims from around the globe gathered in Mina on Friday to observe Tarwiyah Day, marking a crucial step in their preparations for Waqfah at Arafat, the pinnacle of the annual Hajj pilgrimage, set to take place on Saturday.

Following the traditions of Prophet Mohammed, the pilgrims undertook their final preparations with the assistance of meticulously planned traffic and security measures, ensuring a smooth progression, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency.

To safeguard the health and well-being of the pilgrims, the Ministry of Health has deployed an extensive medical team comprising over 34,000 physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and administrative staff. Additionally, the ministry has mobilized 730 ambulances and seven air ambulances to provide medical assistance and facilitate transportation to 189 dedicated hospitals, medical centers, and mobile clinics.

Since June 7, the ministry’s medical centers have performed 180 heart operations and over 470 dialysis procedures on pilgrims. By Tuesday, more than 70,000 pilgrims had availed of the medical services provided by the ministry. With temperatures reaching up to 43 degrees Celsius in some areas, the ministry has advised all pilgrims to use umbrellas for sun protection and to stay hydrated.

Lt. Gen. Fayyadh bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili highlighted the vital role played by the Kingdom’s armed forces in ensuring the safety of the visitors. He recently conducted an inspection tour of the units involved in this year’s Hajj to confirm their readiness.

Minister of Hajj and Umrah Tawfiq Al-Rabiah, in a social media statement, welcomed all pilgrims and affirmed that the holy sites are fully prepared. He also introduced the Nusuk Card, a mandatory identification card that provides personal details and accommodation information for authorized pilgrims throughout the Hajj period.

The Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing has contributed significantly to the smooth conduct of this year’s pilgrimage by deploying 22,000 workers and providing 88,000 waste containers at the holy sites.

As the pilgrims continue their sacred journey, these comprehensive efforts underscore the Kingdom’s commitment to ensuring a safe, healthy, and spiritually fulfilling Hajj experience for all.
