Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to deepening its strategic partnership with China and advancing shared prosperity during a reception hosted by the Chinese embassy to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

President Zardari, addressing the distinguished gathering of federal ministers, diplomats, dignitaries, and senior civil and military officials, highlighted the significance of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in enhancing regional connectivity and fostering economic prosperity. He emphasized the importance of advancing the high-quality development of CPEC, noting that it would unlock greater benefits for the people of both nations and contribute to the region’s overall growth.

Extending his warmest congratulations to China on this auspicious occasion, President Zardari reflected on the transformative impact of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. He paid tribute to the heroic struggle of the Chinese people under the visionary leadership of the Communist Party, marking October 1 as the rebirth of a strong, united China.

He also acknowledged the invaluable contributions made by successive generations in cementing the Pakistan-China friendship, which has evolved into an All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership. This relationship, President Zardari stated, stands as a model of inter-state relations, offering inspiration and strength to both countries.

“China is an iron-clad brother of Pakistan, and the entire nation takes pride in the enduring friendship between our two countries. We have stood by each other in testing times, and this bond will only continue to grow stronger,” he remarked.

Looking ahead, President Zardari expressed confidence that China is poised to achieve significant milestones in the coming decades, which will not only bolster its development but also reshape global politics, economics, and culture in positive ways.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his address, underscored the transformative potential of the second phase of CPEC, which will facilitate Pakistan’s economic growth in vital sectors such as agriculture, information technology, and mining. He noted that the second phase of CPEC would enable Pakistan to unlock new avenues of mutual cooperation and bolster its economy.

“We are entering a new phase of CPEC, which holds immense potential for collaboration in key sectors. This partnership will play a crucial role in transforming Pakistan’s economy,” the Prime Minister stated.

He also extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Chinese government and people, lauding China’s remarkable journey to becoming a global power and a key player in international affairs. Prime Minister Shehbaz reaffirmed Pakistan’s steadfast support for China on various international issues, including Hong Kong and Taiwan, and expressed gratitude for the warm reception he received during his recent visit to China.

“The friendship between Pakistan and China is higher than the Himalayas and deeper than the oceans,” PM Shehbaz remarked, underscoring the inseparable bond between the two nations.

The Prime Minister acknowledged China’s vital role in supporting Pakistan during its negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and stressed the need to continue focusing on development in key sectors, including agriculture and industry, to ensure Pakistan’s prosperity.

Looking ahead to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Council of Heads of Government (SCO CHG) meeting in Islamabad, Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed eagerness to welcome the Chinese Prime Minister, further strengthening the ties between the two countries.

Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong, also addressed the gathering, commending President Xi Jinping’s leadership in guiding China towards unprecedented prosperity and global influence.
