Pakistan and Iran Pledge Joint Efforts on Border Security and Counter-Terrorism

Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: Pakistan and Iran have reached an agreement to enhance cooperation on border security and counter-terrorism efforts, as announced in a joint press conference held in Islamabad by Pakistani Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi.

During the conference, Minister Dar extended a warm welcome to his Iranian counterpart and expressed Pakistan’s deep concerns over recent escalations in Gaza, condemning Israel’s actions as violations of international law. He emphasized that Israeli aggression poses a severe threat to regional stability and called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. Additionally, Dar underscored the importance of diplomatic solutions for long-standing issues, including Kashmir, as essential to fostering peace in the region.

Both ministers addressed the growing challenges posed by terrorism, particularly along their shared border. “We agree that terrorism is a common challenge for both Pakistan and Iran,” Dar stated. “We will cooperate in addressing these threats, especially at the border.” This commitment reflects a unified stance on maintaining regional security through collaboration.

On the issue of Palestine, both sides reiterated their unwavering support for the Palestinian cause. Iranian Foreign Minister Araqchi praised Pakistan’s clear stance on Palestine, attributing continued violence in the region to the global community’s lack of decisive action. Araqchi further urged international efforts to end the humanitarian crisis in Palestine, calling it a genocide in urgent need of resolution. He also expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s humanitarian aid to Palestinian and Lebanese refugees and its advocacy for peace in the Middle East.

The two foreign ministers agreed to sustain their cooperative approach to tackle shared security challenges, terrorism, and regional instability, marking a strengthened commitment between Pakistan and Iran on key regional issues.
