Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: Pakistan on Thursday expressed serious concern over recent attacks targeting Türkiye and Azerbaijan, warning that such incidents could further escalate tensions in the region and undermine regional peace and stability.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the attacks on the two “brotherly countries” were a violation of international law and the established principles of inter-state relations.

Islamabad reaffirmed its solidarity with both nations and called for restraint and diplomatic engagement to prevent further escalation and maintain regional stability.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in separate messages, also expressed concern over the recent attacks. He said the people and government of Pakistan stand in complete solidarity with Türkiye during this challenging time.

“I join the people of Pakistan in expressing complete solidarity with our brave Turkish brothers and sisters,” the prime minister said, urging all parties to exercise maximum restraint and pursue comprehensive dialogue to resolve the crisis.

Regarding Azerbaijan, the prime minister said Pakistan firmly stands with the leadership and people of the “brotherly country” and strongly condemns actions that risk further escalation and threaten regional peace and stability.

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov to discuss the evolving situation.

According to the Foreign Office, the two leaders expressed concern over rising regional tensions and the drone attacks targeting Azerbaijan, emphasizing the importance of de-escalation through diplomatic channels.

Both sides agreed to remain in close contact and coordinate as the situation develops.

Earlier on Thursday, Azerbaijani authorities reported that drones launched from Iran struck the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, injuring four people and causing damage to infrastructure. According to Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry, one drone hit the terminal building at Nakhchivan International Airport, while another fell near a school in the village of Shakarabad.

Regional tensions remain high as the United States and Israel continue large-scale strikes on Iran for the sixth consecutive day. Iranian authorities have reported significant casualties, including senior military officials.

Iran has responded with drone and missile attacks targeting Israel and Gulf countries hosting United States military assets.

The situation has also affected NATO territory. On Wednesday, a ballistic munition launched from Iran and heading toward Turkish airspace was intercepted by NATO air and missile defense systems in the Eastern Mediterranean, according to Türkiye’s Ministry of National Defense.
