Pakistan, Iran Reaffirm Commitment to Strengthen Bilateral, Parliamentary, and Economic Cooperation

Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: Pakistan’s Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, met with the Deputy Speaker of Iran’s Parliament, Ali Nikzad, and his accompanying delegation at the Parliament House in Islamabad.

During the meeting, both sides held in-depth discussions on Pakistan-Iran relations, parliamentary cooperation, economic partnership, and issues of mutual interest across various sectors.

Speaker Sadiq emphasized the importance of further strengthening bilateral collaboration to ensure regional stability and shared prosperity. He stated that Pakistan and Iran are brotherly neighboring countries bound by deep-rooted historical, religious, and cultural ties.

Referring to the recent visit of Dr. Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, as a milestone, Sadiq noted that the visit had significantly contributed to promoting parliamentary engagement and deepening relations between the two nations.

Both leaders highlighted the importance of enhancing cooperation at the parliamentary level and promoting people-to-people contacts to foster mutual understanding and friendship. They also stressed the need for unity and solidarity among Muslim countries to tackle shared challenges and promote peace and progress in the region.

Speaker Sadiq said that the people of Iran regard Pakistan as their second home, a reflection of the strong fraternal bond between the two nations. He expressed Pakistan’s gratitude for Iran’s unwavering support during times of national difficulty and underscored Pakistan’s commitment to peace and dialogue for the resolution of conflicts.

Expressing concern over the misuse of Afghan soil for terrorist activities, Sadiq reaffirmed Pakistan’s determination to eliminate terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

Recalling the unified resolution passed by Pakistan’s Parliament condemning Israel’s aggression against Iran, Sadiq noted that both nations face common threats, including that posed by the Israeli regime. He congratulated Iran on its strong and timely response to Israeli provocations and extended best wishes to Deputy Speaker Nikzad for the successful implementation of Iran’s upcoming five-year development plan.

Deputy Speaker Nikzad expressed deep condolences over the recent terrorist attack in Islamabad and paid tribute to the victims. He appreciated Pakistan’s consistent support and solidarity during Iran’s critical moments, including the twelve-day war, describing it as a testament to the enduring friendship between the two countries.

Nikzad further emphasized the vast potential for expanding cooperation between Iran and Pakistan in trade, energy, education, and parliamentary capacity building, reaffirming Iran’s commitment to strengthening ties with Pakistan at all levels.
