Pakistan-Kazakhstan Ombudsmen agree to ink cooperation agreement
Kazakhstan keen to join Asian Ombudsman Association
For the first time in the history of Kazakhstan-Pakistan relations, a meeting of Human Rights Commissioners of Republic of Kazakhstan and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan took place in a virtual format.
Ms. Elvira Azimova, Kazakhstan Ombudsman, spoke about the institutional basis of Ombudsman’s activities, ongoing political reforms, and social transformations in the Republic of Kazakhstan. She also made the mention of the main tasks of the Kazakhstan Commissioner for Human Rights.
On his part, Mr. Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi, Pakistan Federal Ombudsman, spoke about the history of the formation and development of the Ombudsman institutions in the Islamic Republic, the specifics of the work being carried out, as well as natural disasters, like floods that swept certain parts of Pakistan over the past quarter of this year.During the negotiations, the parties decided to sign a bilateral agreement to establish cooperation on a regular basis.
Moreover, the Kazakhstan side expressed interest in joining the Asian Ombudsman Association, the president of which is a Pakistani counterpart.
