Pakistan, Malaysia Vow to Enhance Cooperation; Discuss Gaza Peace, Border Security

Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday evening received a telephone call from Prime Minister of Malaysia Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, during which the two leaders discussed regional developments and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations.

Expressing gratitude for the warm hospitality extended to him during his recent visit to Kuala Lumpur, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said he was pleased that the understandings reached during the visit—particularly in relation to the export of halal meat and other mutually beneficial areas—had elevated Pakistan–Malaysia ties to new heights.

The Prime Minister also briefed his Malaysian counterpart on his participation in the signing ceremony of the Gaza Peace Agreement held in Sharm el-Sheikh. Both leaders welcomed the peace initiative and expressed hope that it would help end the suffering of the Palestinian people, ensure unhindered humanitarian access to Gaza, and pave the way for lasting peace and stability in the region.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also apprised Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim of the security situation along the Pakistan–Afghanistan border, emphasizing that while Pakistan seeks peace and stability in Afghanistan, it continues to face cross-border terrorism originating from Afghan territory. He stressed that the Afghan authorities must take immediate and effective measures to dismantle terrorist networks operating from their soil that orchestrate attacks inside Pakistan.

He further reaffirmed that Pakistan had agreed to a temporary ceasefire at the request of the Afghan authorities to facilitate dialogue in Doha, underscoring the importance of concrete action against all terrorist entities, including Fitna-al-Khwarij, Fitna-al-Hindustan, TTP, and BLA, to restore peace and stability along the border.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim expressed concern over these developments and offered Malaysia’s constructive role in reducing tensions and promoting peace and stability in the region. Both leaders agreed to maintain close contact and continue consultations on issues of mutual interest.
