Pakistan Observes Eid ul Adha, Expresses Solidarity with Gaza
Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: The Pakistani nation celebrated Eid ul Adha on Monday, expressing profound solidarity with their brethren in Gaza, who are enduring severe oppression amidst an ongoing military offensive by Israel. The Gaza health ministry reports that since October 7, the conflict has resulted in the deaths of at least 37,337 Palestinians and injuries to 85,299 more, with many feared still trapped under the rubble.
Despite growing international calls for a ceasefire, a resolution remains elusive over eight months into the conflict. In their Eid messages, Pakistan’s leaders voiced their support for the war-torn people of Gaza and those in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, urging attention to their plight.
In their prayers, Pakistani Muslims remembered their brothers and sisters in Gaza and engaged in the traditional sacrifice of animals such as goats, cows, and camels, commemorating Prophet Ibrahim’s (AS) devotion and willingness to sacrifice his son as commanded by Allah.
To ensure a peaceful celebration, security measures were heightened nationwide, with thousands of police personnel deployed.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended warm greetings to the Pakistani nation and Muslims worldwide. He remarked on the festival’s significance, reflecting Prophet Ibrahim’s (AS) readiness to sacrifice his beloved son, Prophet Ismail (AS), as an act of obedience to Allah.
“The day reminds us of the importance of sacrificing what is most dear to us in the way of Allah. It teaches us the value of selflessness and devotion to Allah,” the Prime Minister said. He emphasized the festival as an opportunity to unite people, strengthen bonds of brotherhood, and care for the less fortunate.
Highlighting ongoing global conflicts, Prime Minister Sharif expressed sorrow and concern, particularly for Palestinians and Kashmiris enduring brutal occupation while striving for self-determination. “May the spirit of Eid ul Adha, with its message of solidarity and unity, bring prosperity, success, and happiness to the entire Muslim ummah,” he prayed.
President Asif Ali Zardari also extended his felicitations, praying for Allah’s blessings on the Muslim world and Pakistan. He emphasized the importance of remaining steadfast in trials and urged the nation to embrace values of brotherhood, sacrifice, and selflessness, sharing Eid’s joy with the less fortunate.
The Armed Forces of Pakistan, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), and services chiefs also conveyed their greetings. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) highlighted the spirit of sacrifice embodied by the festival, paying tribute to the martyrs and ghazis whose sacrifices ensure the country’s independence and peace.
“May Allah Almighty continue to bestow His blessings upon Pakistan and protect it from the nefarious designs of its adversaries, Ameen,” the ISPR statement concluded.
This Eid ul Adha, as Pakistan stands in solidarity with Gaza and Kashmir, the nation prays for peace, prosperity, and the end of suffering for Muslims worldwide.
