Pakistan wins by 5 wickets against Black Caps

Raaalpindi, The Gulf Observer: The Black Caps will be ruing a strong chance missed after a Daryl Mitchell century came to naught in the opening ODI against Pakistan in Rawalpindi overnight.

Mitchell made his second ODI ton as New Zealand reached 287 for seven, which Pakistan chased down with five wickets in hand and nine balls remaining.

Fakhar Zaman top scored with 117 for the home side.

Mitchell, batting at three, made 113 off 115 balls as part of a 102-run partnership with opener Will Young (86 from 78) as New Zealand looked set at 222 for two in the 40th over. But five wickets fell in the final 10.2 overs as they added 66 runs.

Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq (60) made 124 for the opening partnership which set up a winning chase for Pakistan.
