PM Shehbaz Sharif Meets US Vice President JD Vance in Islamabad

Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday held a high-level meeting with US Vice President JD Vance at the Prime Minister’s Office in Islamabad, as part of ongoing diplomatic engagements under the “Islamabad Talks 2026.”
The US delegation also included Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and senior advisor Jared Kushner. According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the Pakistani side was represented by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif commended the constructive engagement demonstrated by both delegations and expressed optimism that the ongoing talks would serve as a vital step toward achieving lasting peace in the region.
Reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to diplomacy, the prime minister emphasized the country’s willingness to continue facilitating dialogue between the concerned parties to help advance sustainable and durable peace.
Earlier, Vice President JD Vance arrived in Islamabad leading a high-powered US delegation to participate in discussions focused on the US-Iran ceasefire initiative, widely referred to as the “Islamabad Talks 2026.”
Upon arrival, the delegation was received by Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir, and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker was also present at the airport to welcome the visiting dignitaries.
The high-level engagement underscores Pakistan’s proactive diplomatic role in fostering dialogue and reducing regional tensions through peaceful means.
