Politeknik Brunei Delegation Embarks on Strategic Educational Visit to Malaysia to Strengthen Health Sciences Collaboration

Kuala Lumpur, The Gulf Observer: A delegation from Politeknik Brunei is currently on a strategic educational visit to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from June 14 to 21, 2025, aimed at advancing academic excellence and promoting international collaboration in the field of health sciences.
Led by Acting Principal Dayang Hajah Armah binti Tengah, and accompanied by officials from Brunei’s Ministry of Health, the delegation includes students and lecturers from the Diploma in Health Sciences (Public Health) and (Cardiovascular Technology) programmes. The visit aligns with Politeknik Brunei’s Five-Year Development Plan, the Ministry of Education Strategic Plan 2023–2027, and the nation’s long-term vision, Wawasan Brunei 2035.
The delegation has engaged in a series of high-level academic and professional activities, including a visit to the Management and Science University (MSU) in Shah Alam, in connection with an existing Memorandum of Understanding between the two institutions. Discussions centered on academic exchanges, collaborative research, and student progression pathways.
The delegation also made a courtesy visit to the High Commission of Brunei Darussalam in Malaysia, where students were briefed on overseas study opportunities and international career prospects.
Public Health students interacted with senior officials from Malaysia’s Ministry of Health, gaining first-hand knowledge of environmental health management, disease control measures, and national public health strategies. They also visited the World Health Organization (WHO) regional office to explore global health initiatives and potential career avenues within international health organisations.
Meanwhile, Cardiovascular Technology students visited top-tier cardiac institutions, including the renowned Institut Jantung Negara (IJN) and Gleneagles Kuala Lumpur. These visits allowed students to observe advanced cardiovascular procedures and multidisciplinary clinical practices in real-time, enhancing their technical and clinical understanding.
The delegation’s itinerary will continue with visits to prominent institutions such as Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Serdang Hospital, and the Cardiac Vascular Sentral Kuala Lumpur (CVSKL), with a focus on exploring innovation, sustainability, and academic development.
This educational initiative underscores Politeknik Brunei’s ongoing commitment to enriching the relevance of its health science programmes, broadening student exposure to global best practices, and cultivating robust partnerships with leading healthcare and higher education institutions across the region.
