President Aliyev Meets President Erdoğan in Tianjin, Emphasizes Strategic Cooperation

Tianjin, The Gulf Observer: Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, held a high-level meeting with Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of the Republic of Türkiye, on September 1 in Tianjin, China.

During the meeting, both leaders expressed satisfaction with the continued expansion of bilateral relations, grounded in brotherhood and a strategic alliance across multiple sectors, including energy and transport.

The discussions highlighted cooperation between Azerbaijan’s SOCAR and Türkiye’s BOTAŞ company, emphasizing the strategic delivery of Azerbaijani gas to Syria through Türkiye with financial support from Qatar. The two presidents also explored prospects for joint energy projects in other countries.

The significance of the recent groundbreaking ceremony for the Kars-Iğdır-Dilucu railway line was underscored, alongside ongoing railway projects in Azerbaijan, particularly in the Nakhchivan region.

Regional security and reconciliation were also addressed, with the Azerbaijani-Armenian reconciliation process and Türkiye’s stabilizing role in regional issues being highly appreciated.

Additionally, both sides noted the importance of the upcoming Summit of the Organization of Turkic States, scheduled to be held this year in Azerbaijan.

The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on the prospects for further strengthening the Azerbaijan-Türkiye strategic alliance and cooperation on issues of mutual interest.
