President Erdogan Reaffirms Türkiye’s Support for Libya’s Government of National Unity

Ankara, The Gulf Observer: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has reiterated Türkiye’s recognition of Libya’s Government of National Unity (GNU) as the legitimate authority in the North African nation.
“We will continue to develop relations with Libya in many areas, particularly energy, security, and maritime,” Erdogan stated during a high-level meeting with Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh at the Presidential Complex on Wednesday. The discussions highlighted Türkiye’s steadfast commitment to strengthening its partnership with Libya.
The meeting, held behind closed doors, included the participation of Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and National Intelligence Organisation chief Ibrahim Kalin. Discussions focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation and addressing key regional and global issues, with particular emphasis on energy, security, and maritime affairs.
Both leaders underscored the strategic importance of maintaining close contact and cooperation to protect mutual interests in the Eastern Mediterranean. President Erdogan reaffirmed Türkiye’s resolve to work alongside Libya to promote stability and prosperity in the region.
