President Erdoğan Vows to Monitor and Address Escalating Situation in Syria

Ankara, The Gulf Observer: President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated that Türkiye is closely monitoring recent developments in Syria and is taking all necessary measures in response to the re-escalation of conflict between the Bashar al-Assad regime and armed opposition groups.

At a joint press conference with Montenegrin President Jakov Milatovic in Ankara on Monday, Erdoğan expressed concern over the renewed violence in Syria, which erupted suddenly in recent days. He emphasized that Türkiye is following the situation closely, in line with its national security priorities, and is taking appropriate actions to mitigate any potential risks.

“It is our greatest wish that the territorial integrity of Syria is preserved and that instability ends through a consensus based on the legitimate demands of the Syrian people,” Erdoğan stated. He reiterated Türkiye’s commitment to regional stability, affirming that Ankara is ready to “do whatever we must to extinguish the fire” in the region.

The renewed clashes, which broke out on November 27, are between Assad regime forces and anti-regime armed groups in the western countryside of Aleppo, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing civil war that has plagued Syria since 2011. Following a period of relative calm, the latest violence has raised concerns about the future of the conflict and its impact on regional stability.
