President Ilham Aliyev Commemorates Remembrance Day with Visit to Victory Park
Baku, The Gulf Observer: On Remembrance Day, President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan visited the Victory Park, currently under construction in Baku, as the nation reflects on the four-year anniversary of the Patriotic War, a significant chapter in Azerbaijan’s military history. This day serves as a tribute to the bravery of the Azerbaijani forces and honors the memory of martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country’s territorial integrity and the freedom of Garabagh.
The Victory Park, situated along 8 November Avenue, symbolizes the nation’s deep respect for its fallen heroes. During his visit, President Aliyev reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s commitment to honoring those who fought valiantly in defense of the homeland.
In line with this dedication, President Aliyev signed a decree on December 3, 2020, to establish the Patriotic War Memorial Complex and the Victory Museum in Baku. The Victory Museum, designed to be accessible from two entry points within the park, will span an area of 9,200 square meters. A prominent feature of the museum will be a side wall inscribed with the names of soldiers and officers who laid down their lives for Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity.
The construction of the Victory Park and its associated memorials reflects Azerbaijan’s enduring commitment to commemorate its national heroes and preserve the memory of their sacrifices for future generations.
