President Ilham Aliyev Congratulates Mojtaba Khamenei on Appointment as Iran’s Supreme Leader

Baku, The Gulf Observer: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has sent a congratulatory letter to Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei on his appointment as the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

In his message, President Aliyev once again expressed condolences over the passing of Mojtaba Khamenei’s father, the former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

“Once again, I extend my condolences to you on the tragic passing of your father, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei,” the Azerbaijani president said in the letter.

President Aliyev highlighted the historical foundations of relations between Azerbaijan and Iran, noting that ties between the two countries are rooted in the long-standing traditions of good-neighborliness and friendship shared by their peoples.

“Relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Islamic Republic of Iran stem from the will of our peoples, who have historically lived in an atmosphere of good-neighborliness and friendship,” Aliyev stated.

He expressed hope that both sides would continue working together to strengthen bilateral relations based on mutual respect and trust in the interests of their nations.

The Azerbaijani leader also wished the people of Iran peace, security, and prosperity, while extending his congratulations to Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei on assuming the country’s highest leadership position.
