President Ilham Aliyev Honors Türkiye’s Democracy and National Unity Day with Message of Solidarity

Baku, The Gulf Observer: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, has conveyed a heartfelt message to President of the Republic of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, on the occasion of July 15 — Democracy and National Unity Day — commemorating the ninth anniversary of the failed coup attempt in Türkiye.
In his message, President Aliyev paid tribute to the memory of those who lost their lives resisting the treacherous coup attempt, describing them as martyrs who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of Türkiye’s constitutional and democratic order. He extended his deepest condolences to the families of the fallen and to the people of Türkiye.
“On that night, brotherly Türkiye wrote the greatest heroic epic in its modern history,” President Aliyev stated. “Your courageous and persevering people rose to defend their homeland, flag, and state, making their chests a shield against the bloody coup attempt that threatened the constitutional and democratic foundations of the Republic of Türkiye.”
He emphasized that July 15 stands as a landmark date symbolizing the triumph of unshakable national will, unity, solidarity, and patriotism, and praised Türkiye’s emergence from this critical challenge under President Erdoğan’s leadership with renewed strength and integrity.
President Aliyev also recalled the Azerbaijani people’s immediate and unwavering support during the events of 2016, citing it as a true manifestation of the principle of “One nation, two states” and a shining example of the deep brotherhood between the two nations.
Highlighting Türkiye’s current progress, President Aliyev expressed admiration for the ongoing efforts to establish a “terror-free Türkiye” and hailed the recent announcement by the PKK terrorist group to disband and lay down arms as a victory for national unity and political determination.
Looking ahead, President Aliyev reaffirmed his strong belief in the future of Azerbaijan–Türkiye relations, underscoring the strategic alliance founded on historical friendship, the will of the peoples, and the Shusha Declaration.
“Azerbaijan and Türkiye are confidently and successfully moving forward shoulder to shoulder towards the future,” he noted. “The unshakable brotherhood, unparalleled unity, and strategic alliance between our countries are a key factor of security, partnership, and development for our region and beyond.”
Concluding his message, President Aliyev wished President Erdoğan continued good health and success, and extended best wishes of peace, prosperity, and well-being to the brotherly people of Türkiye.
