President Ilham Aliyev Meets Brookfield Asset Management CEO in New York

New York, The Gulf Observer: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev held a meeting in New York on Monday with Bruce Flatt, Chief Executive Officer of Brookfield Asset Management, one of the world’s largest alternative investment management companies.

During the talks, Bruce Flatt recalled his visit to Azerbaijan in 2023, noting that he was deeply impressed by the country’s economic achievements and development processes. He emphasized the steadily growing cooperation between Brookfield Asset Management and the State Oil Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ), and congratulated Azerbaijan on the progress made in Washington toward the normalization of relations with Armenia, which he said would open favorable opportunities for enhanced regional economic cooperation.

President Aliyev welcomed the positive trajectory of relations between Azerbaijan and Brookfield Asset Management, underlining that this partnership offers significant opportunities for long-term strategic cooperation. Both sides also exchanged views on Azerbaijan’s potential in renewable energy and the country’s prospects of becoming a regional energy hub.
