President Ilham Aliyev Receives Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi

Baku, The Gulf Observer: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on December 8 received a delegation led by Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Welcoming the delegation, President Ilham Aliyev highlighted the centuries-long ties between Azerbaijan and Iran, noting that the historical coexistence of the two nations lends special significance to their relationship. He expressed satisfaction with the recent momentum in bilateral engagement, underscoring that the visit of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Azerbaijan, along with reciprocal visits by senior officials, has contributed to the expansion of cooperation across various sectors.
The head of state emphasized that the bilateral agenda is comprehensive, covering numerous spheres, with clearly defined roadmaps guiding progress in each area. He also noted the effective work of the intergovernmental commission, citing productive collaboration in economic, trade, transport, energy, and other fields. President Aliyev expressed confidence that the visit of the Iranian delegation would yield successful and meaningful outcomes.
Conveying his gratitude for the warm reception, Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi relayed the greetings of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to President Aliyev. He noted that President Pezeshkian holds deep respect for the Azerbaijani leader and for Azerbaijan, and added that following his election, the Iranian President instructed the government to further enhance ties with Baku.
President Aliyev thanked Araghchi for the greetings and asked that his own warm regards be conveyed to President Pezeshkian.
Araghchi reaffirmed the deep-rooted nature of relations between the two neighbouring countries and underscored Iran’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on issues of mutual interest.
