President Ilham Aliyev Receives Romanian Senate President Mircea Abrudean

Baku, The Gulf Observer: On October 29, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Mircea Abrudean, President of the Senate of Romania, in Baku.
During the meeting, Mircea Abrudean congratulated President Aliyev on the recent normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, including the signing of a declaration in Washington in the presence of the U.S. President and the initialing of the Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations between the two countries. He expressed hope that these initiatives would contribute to peace and development throughout the region.
The Romanian Senate President also expressed his appreciation for participating in the international parliamentary conference organized by the Milli Majlis to mark the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Highlighting the longstanding friendship and partnership between Azerbaijan and Romania, he underscored the broad potential for expanding bilateral cooperation and stressed the importance of interparliamentary ties and collaboration within international parliamentary institutions.
President Aliyev thanked Mircea Abrudean for his congratulations and highlighted the pivotal role of U.S. President Donald Trump in advancing the peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia, noting that these developments carry historical significance for the entire region.
The leaders also discussed the Agreement signed in Bucharest involving Azerbaijan, Romania, Georgia, and Hungary on the Black Sea submarine cable project. Both sides emphasized the project’s importance for exporting renewable energy resources from Azerbaijan and Central Asian states to European markets.
Further discussions covered opportunities to strengthen bilateral cooperation across various sectors, reinforcing the commitment of both countries to enhancing strategic and economic ties.
