President Jokowi Inaugurates 2024 Central Flag-Raising Troop at Nusantara State Palace

Nusantara, The Gulf Observer: President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) officially inaugurated the 2024 Central-level Flag-Raising Troop (Paskibraka) during a solemn ceremony at the State Palace in Nusantara, Indonesia’s future capital city. The inauguration, held on Tuesday, marks a historic moment as Nusantara prepares to host the nation’s Independence Day celebrations for the first time.

Acting as the ceremony inspector, President Jokowi presided over the event, which commenced with the national anthem, Indonesia Raya. The Head of the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP), Yudian Wahyudi, led the 2024 Paskibraka Pledge, with the troop members following his recitation.

During the ceremony, Wahyudi instructed Violetha Agryka Sianturi, a Paskibraka member from Medan, North Sumatra, and the ceremony leader, to hold the Red and White Flag with her right hand and place it on her left chest. Following the pledge, she was directed to release the flag, hold it with both hands, and kiss it as a gesture of respect.

President Jokowi then delivered the inauguration statement, formally declaring the Paskibraka troop ready to serve at the State Palace in Nusantara on August 17, 2024, Indonesia’s 79th Independence Day. “With God’s blessing, I hereby inaugurate the 2024 Central Paskibraka, which will serve at the State Palace in IKN Nusantara on August 17. May God Almighty bestow grace and ease in carrying out the country’s duties,” the president stated.

As a symbolic gesture, President Jokowi pinned badges and fabric belts on the Paskibraka members, officially marking their inauguration.

This year’s Independence Day ceremony will be the first to be held in Nusantara, East Kalimantan, representing a significant milestone in Indonesia’s journey towards becoming an advanced nation. A parallel ceremony, led by Vice President Ma’ruf Amin, is scheduled to take place in Jakarta on the same day.

The celebration in Nusantara symbolizes Indonesia’s progress and the ongoing efforts to complete the capital transfer by 2045, as highlighted by Usman Kansong, Director General of Public Communication and Information at the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, on August 10.
