President Jokowi to appoint Menpora, BNPT head
Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is scheduled to officially appoint Dito Ariotedjo as Minister of Youth and Sport Affairs (Menpora) and Police Commissioner General (Komjen) Rycko Amelza as National Counter-Terrorism Agency (BNPT) head on Wednesday (April 5).
Ariotedjo has been chosen to replace Zainuddin Amali, who submitted his resignation letter as Menpora to the president on March 9, 2023.
“Yes, they will be officially appointed,” a source from the presidential office stated on Monday.
Ariotedjo was head of the Central Executive Board (DPP) of Angkatan Muda Pembaharuan Indonesia (AMPI), a youth wing of the Golkar political party.
It is known that Ariotedjo was also chairman of the Organizing Committee for Golkar’s 58 anniversary last year.
In addition, Ariotedjo is known for his active involvement in sports-related affairs. In 2021, he, along with a renowned businessman Rafi Ahmad and the CEO of Prestige Motor, co-founded Rans Sport company.
Regarding the sport company, Ariotedjo is currently serving as the chairman of the Rans Nusantara Football Club, a team competing in the national top-tier league Liga 1. Moreover, he is part of the company’s basketball branch, RANS PIK Basketball.
As for governmental matters, Ariotedjo has been part of the expert team for the Coordinating Minister for Economy since 2022.
Meanwhile, Komjen Rycko Amelza will be appointed as BNPT head to succeed Komjen Boy Rafli Amar, who will soon retire.
Amelza was the best graduate of the Police Academy in 1988. The man, who was born in Bogor on August 14, 1966, has paved his way to be known as an experienced detective.
Regarding the field of counterterrorism, Amelza was part of the Police Criminal Detective Agency (Bareskrim Polri) that successfully arrested the infamous terrorist Dr Azahari and his group in Batu City, November 9, 2005.
In 2008, Amelza was serving as the head of the North Jakarta Metro Police before being appointed as a presidential aide for former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) during his second term of administration.
Furthermore, Amelza has served in numerous institutions since 2013, including the Police Education and Training Institute (Lemdiklat Polri) in 2021.
