President Lương Cường Meets Washington State Leaders to Deepen Vietnam–US Partnership

Seattle, The Gulf Observer: State President Lương Cường met with Washington Lieutenant Governor Denny Heck in Seattle on Sunday morning as part of his working visit to the United States to attend the High-Level General Debate of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 80) and engage in bilateral activities.
President Cường affirmed that one of the key goals of his trip is to further promote and deepen the Vietnam–US comprehensive strategic partnership and strengthen relations with other partners. He noted that Vietnam regards the US as one of its most important partners, with Washington State serving as a key hub for economic and trade cooperation. Vietnam is currently Washington’s fifth-largest export market.
The President highlighted the tangible results achieved in bilateral cooperation in recent years, particularly in trade, education, aviation, and energy. Stressing the potential for further expansion, he proposed enhancing delegation exchanges, facilitating trade and investment, and strengthening collaboration in science and technology, artificial intelligence, logistics, clean energy, and deep-water ports, alongside promoting closer ties between Washington and Ho Chi Minh City.
President Cường also underscored the important role of the Vietnamese and Vietnamese-American community in Washington State, calling on local leaders to continue supporting them so they can contribute more strongly to bilateral relations.
Lieutenant Governor Heck congratulated Vietnam on its socio-economic development and reaffirmed Washington’s recognition of Vietnam as a priority partner in the region. He noted the state’s significant agricultural exports to Vietnam, which contribute to balancing trade between the two countries.
Heck also highlighted Washington’s readiness to strengthen government-business links, boost trade and investment, and enhance cooperation in green logistics, supply chain development, human resource training, and innovation. He praised the growing aviation partnership, citing the delivery of a Boeing 737-8 aircraft to Vietjet as a milestone that creates thousands of jobs in Washington while underscoring the role of Vietnamese enterprises on the global stage.
Commending the Vietnamese community’s contributions to Washington’s economy, Heck pledged to continue supporting cultural and educational exchanges, business initiatives, and stronger people-to-people connections.
On this occasion, President Cường invited Washington State leaders to visit Vietnam soon, with the aim of further strengthening ties between the two countries and fostering deeper cooperation at both national and local levels.
