President Mirziyoyev Meets with Hungarian PM During Informal Summit of OTS
Shusha, The Gulf Observer: On July 6, as part of the Informal Summit of the Organization of Turkic States, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orbán, media reports.
According to the press service of the Uzbek President, the meeting focused on current issues of multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Hungary. Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the consistent development of their strategic partnership and practical interactions.
Intensive contacts at all levels continue to strengthen bilateral relations. In May, Tashkent hosted a productive joint Intergovernmental Commission meeting and business forum. Over recent years, trade turnover between the two countries has nearly doubled, joint projects and enterprises have increased, and direct flights between Tashkent and Budapest resumed on June 30.
The discussion emphasized accelerating cooperation projects in various sectors, including industry, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, logistics, and construction. The leaders underscored the importance of preparing a new portfolio of investment projects and agreed to hold a joint Forum of Regions in Kokand city by the end of the year.
Cultural, educational, and sports interactions have also intensified. Both parties noted the need for mutual cultural events to foster closer ties between the peoples of Uzbekistan and Hungary.
The leaders exchanged views on current cooperation issues within the frameworks of the Organization of Turkic States and the European Union.
