President Mirziyoyev Receives Comprehensive Proposals to Boost Export of IT Services

Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: In a pivotal move to boost the nation’s digital prowess, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev conducted a comprehensive review of proposals aimed at fortifying the infrastructure and enhancing the export of IT services. The President’s engagement with the proposals took place on 22 February, following a directive issued during a significant video conference meeting at the Ministry of Digital Technologies on 20 December of the previous year.

The IT landscape in Uzbekistan has seen remarkable growth, with the number of residents at the IT park surging to 1.7 thousand, providing employment for 26 thousand individuals. In alignment with the Uzbekistan 2030 Strategy, the government envisions expanding these figures to 7.5 thousand residents, generating 100 thousand jobs, and elevating the industry’s export volume to an impressive $5 billion.

A key proposal presented is the initiation of the “Zero Risk” program, designed to entice organizations engaged in exporting IT services to broaden their reach into regional territories. Participants in this program, endorsed by the IT park, stand to benefit from the provision of government facilities free of charge for up to one year. Subsequently, a direct lease agreement is established, and complimentary use of technology and equipment is extended for the initial one-year period.

To incentivize the growth of these enterprises, significant benefits have been outlined. Up to 50 percent of expenses incurred by program participants for the recruitment and advanced training of workers will be compensated.

The “Local to Global” program is also on the horizon, offering support to domestic IT companies aiming to make a mark on the global stage. Participants will receive compensation for up to 50 percent of expenses, covering initiatives such as international exhibitions and the engagement of foreign experts.

Additionally, the presentation highlighted the “digital inclusion” project, an initiative geared towards equipping youth, women, and individuals with disabilities with the skills needed to contribute to the IT services sector. This endeavor aims to create 9 thousand jobs, with a special emphasis on providing employment for approximately 5 thousand women and people with disabilities, contributing to a total of 25 thousand new jobs.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed his approval of these forward-thinking proposals and issued additional instructions to ensure the effective implementation of these ambitious programs, marking a significant stride towards positioning Uzbekistan as a formidable player in the global IT arena.
