Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: Shavkat Mirziyoyev has been briefed on the progress made in implementing key tasks aimed at strengthening the country’s oil and gas industry, with a focus on improving operational efficiency and expanding hydrocarbon reserves.

During a presentation on March 10, the implementation of measures assigned earlier this year was reviewed. On January 30, the president had outlined priority tasks to enhance the efficiency of Uzbekneftegaz, expand geological exploration, and introduce modern technologies in the sector. Initial progress was examined on February 23, when additional instructions were issued to accelerate reforms.

The latest briefing analyzed ongoing work to expand geological exploration, identify new oil and gas fields, improve the productivity of existing wells, and maintain stable production volumes.

Industry officials reported that since the beginning of 2026, 3D seismic exploration has been carried out across an area of 471 square kilometers. In addition, 11 new wells have been commissioned, repair work has been conducted on 20 wells, and five technological measures have been implemented to improve efficiency.

The presentation also highlighted efforts to increase operational efficiency, optimize costs of enterprises, and strengthen the financial stability of the sector.

President Mirziyoyev instructed responsible officials to continue implementing the assigned tasks and planned initiatives with precise calculations, strict discipline, and effective management to ensure the sustainable development of Uzbekistan’s oil and gas industry.
