President Mirziyoyev Reviews Transport and Construction Projects to Enhance Uzbekistan’s Infrastructure
Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: On April 16, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan engaged in an insightful review of pivotal projects within the realms of transport and construction, underscoring the nation’s commitment to fortify its infrastructure. The occasion served as a platform to spotlight Uzbekistan’s burgeoning international relations, catalyzed by an active foreign policy, and to spotlight Tashkent’s burgeoning prominence as a hub for commerce and tourism.
A focal point of the presentation was the progressive modernization of the Tashkent International Airport, christened in honor of Islam Karimov. The multifaceted enhancements underscored a concerted effort to elevate passenger experience, with expanded services, increased check-in counters, and boarding gates amplifying operational efficiency. A notable highlight was the completion of a three-year reconstruction endeavor, amplifying the departure terminal’s expanse from 56,000 to 80,000 square meters, thus augmenting its capacity to accommodate burgeoning traveler traffic.
The ongoing reconstruction endeavors further accentuate Uzbekistan’s dedication to elevating transport infrastructure standards. The phased development of the departure terminal promises enhanced capabilities in registration, customs control, and security, poised to elevate passenger throughput from 1.2 thousand to 2.4 thousand individuals per hour. Additionally, plans are underway for the construction of a state-of-the-art cargo terminal, set to bolster the airport’s capacity to process up to 300 tons of cargo daily.
Turning to urban development initiatives, President Mirziyoyev reaffirmed the nation’s commitment to fostering modernized living spaces. Embodying this vision is the ambitious township of Al-Khorezmi, nested within the confines of Urgench city. The meticulously curated urban expanse will encompass a spectrum of amenities including residential complexes, educational institutions, recreational facilities, and technological hubs. Central to this blueprint is the establishment of Al-Khorezmi University, poised to emerge as a bastion of academic excellence, housing faculties spanning mathematics, natural sciences, computer science, and engineering. With an envisioned student body of 4,000 and provisions for a specialized school catering to gifted youth, the university embodies Uzbekistan’s resolve to cultivate an integrated ecosystem fostering education, innovation, and industry.
In a nod to the nation’s rich intellectual legacy, plans were unveiled for the creation of a museum commemorating the life and contributions of the esteemed scholar Abu Rayhan Beruni. Nestled within the heart of the Beruni district in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, the museum will serve as a testament to Beruni’s enduring influence on global scholarship. Equipped with cutting-edge exhibition design and interactive installations, the museum aims to offer an immersive exploration of Beruni’s legacy, complemented by the installation of a grand monument in his honor.
The presentation culminated with a collaborative discourse on refining project strategies and optimizing construction methodologies. President Mirziyoyev underscored the imperative of maintaining stringent quality standards, entrusting responsible stakeholders with the task of realizing these transformative initiatives.
