President of Turkmenistan Meets South Korean President in Ashgabat
Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov welcomed President of South Korea Yoon Suk Yeol to Ashgabat for a two-day official visit, as reported by the official Turkmen media. The visit marked a significant step in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
During extended negotiations, both leaders oversaw the signing of multiple agreements aimed at enhancing cooperation across various sectors. The agreements include:
- Cooperation Agreement between State Concern Türkmenhimiýa (Turkmenistan) and Hyundai Engineering Co., Ltd. (Republic of Korea): This agreement focuses on implementing necessary measures for the successful commissioning and stable operation of the polymer plant in Gyyanly.
- Framework Agreement between State Concern Turkmengaz (Turkmenistan) and Hyundai Engineering Co., Ltd. (Republic of Korea): This agreement outlines the design and construction of gas preparation facilities with a production capacity of 10 billion cubic meters, as well as the development of wells and the fourth phase of the Galkynysh gas field.
- Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Emergency First Aid Center of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan and Chilgok Hospital of Kyungpook National University (Republic of Korea): This MoU aims to enhance medical cooperation and exchange expertise between the two institutions.
- MoU between the Scientific-Clinical Center of Oncology of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan and Chilgok Hospital of Kyungpook National University (Republic of Korea): This agreement focuses on collaboration in oncology research and treatment.
- MoU between the Hyakimlik of Ashgabat and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport of the Republic of Korea: This MoU pertains to cooperation in energy infrastructure and new city development.
- MoU between the Foreign Economic Relations Bank of Turkmenistan and the Export-Import Bank of Korea and the Korea Trade Insurance Corporation: This agreement aims to facilitate financial cooperation and trade insurance.
- MoU between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of the Republic of Korea: This MoU focuses on facilitating the activities of the Joint Commission on Cooperation and establishing a base for trade and investment promotion.
The heads of state also signed a Joint Statement to commemorate President Yoon Suk Yeol’s official visit to Turkmenistan.
Following the signing ceremony, Presidents Berdimuhamedov and Yoon Suk Yeol addressed representatives of the media, highlighting the importance of these agreements in fostering stronger bilateral ties and promoting mutual development.
The visit underscores the commitment of both Turkmenistan and South Korea to expanding their cooperation in various fields, thereby contributing to the prosperity and stability of both nations.
