President Pezeshkian Marks Reporter’s Day with Tribute to Journalists as Frontline Defenders of Truth

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: President Masoud Pezeshkian, in a heartfelt message commemorating Reporter’s Day, paid tribute to the essential role of journalists in defending the truth and protecting the dignity of the homeland. He underscored the need for “honest frankness,” “honorable steadfastness,” and “unwavering defense” now more than ever in the face of misinformation and global media distortions.
“Defending Iran is not limited to the battlefield,” the President stated. “Sometimes it finds its meaning in a correct headline, an accurate report, or standing up against distortion and disillusionment.”
Honoring the legacy of journalist martyrs who laid down their lives for the nation, President Pezeshkian lauded the media community as commanders on the frontlines of truth—especially during periods of conflict and misinformation. He emphasized the unique capacity of the media to build public trust, unite the nation, and confront falsehoods with integrity and courage.
He called on journalists to narrate Iran’s story with bravery and honesty, reflecting both the nation’s strengths and sacrifices. “National Reporter’s Day is more than a date,” he said. “It is an occasion to reflect on the media’s unmatched role in conveying reality, fostering national awareness, and resisting manipulation.”
The President also reaffirmed the government’s responsibility to safeguard the dignity, security, and livelihood of journalists. He expressed appreciation for those who, amidst turbulent times and manipulated narratives, upheld the values of honor, independence, and truth.
Reflecting on Iran’s recent struggle during twelve days of confrontation with a “brutal, lawless regime and its allies,” Pezeshkian commended the courage of journalists who broadcasted the voice of Iranian resistance to the world and documented the nation’s martyrs and resilience.
“I sincerely thank all those who revealed the truth about the Zionist regime’s war against Iran and amplified the voice of the Iranian people on the global stage,” the President said. “The courage and bravery of journalists who truthfully reported the heinous crimes and genocide in Gaza, and who attained the high honor of martyrdom, will never be forgotten.”
