President Pezeshkian Reaffirms Commitment to Strengthening Iran–China Partnership

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has emphasized the need to resist pressures from countries attempting to undermine Tehran–Beijing ties, while reaffirming Iran’s determination to fully implement agreements reached with China.
The president made the remarks on Tuesday evening in Beijing during a meeting with Wang Huning, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and a permanent member of the Communist Party of China.
Pezeshkian referred to his earlier discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping, stressing that both sides had agreed to pursue key issues raised during their talks.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to implement the agreements and make them operational. We must resist the bullying of those countries that do not want friendly relations between us,” Pezeshkian stated.
Highlighting the importance of multilateral mechanisms, he described the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) as an effective platform for countering unilateralism. “Humanity is thirsty for justice, fairness, and respect for law. Global civilization, rooted in the ancient history and culture of countries such as Iran and China, can help nations live with dignity,” he said.
Pezeshkian noted that Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei had instructed the Iranian administration to prioritize relations with China. He also expressed hope that a joint working group would soon accelerate the implementation of bilateral agreements.
For his part, Wang Huning welcomed Iran’s support for the SCO Summit in Tianjin and reaffirmed Beijing’s commitment to turning agreements into reality. He stressed that China would continue to stand by Iran on matters of sovereignty and national interests, while underscoring the two countries’ shared views on global governance and opposition to hegemony.
“China remains committed to fulfilling the promises made by President Xi and advancing multilateral cooperation with Iran,” Wang affirmed.
During his visit, President Pezeshkian also attended a grand military parade in Beijing on Wednesday, marking the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. The ceremony, held at Tiananmen Square, was attended by leaders from more than 25 countries and showcased China’s latest military equipment.
The parade was the concluding event of President Pezeshkian’s trip to China, which also included participation in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Heads of State Summit and the “SCO Plus” meeting in Tianjin. The summit, which opened on August 31, gathered leaders and representatives from over 30 countries and international organizations to discuss multilateral cooperation, underscoring Iran’s active role in regional and global forums.
