President Prabowo Begins First European State Visit with High-Level Meetings in Brussels

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has officially commenced his first European state visit in Brussels, Belgium, where he is scheduled to hold high-level meetings with European Union leaders and King Philippe of Belgium. The visit underscores Indonesia’s commitment to enhancing strategic cooperation with European partners.
According to an official statement issued on Sunday, President Prabowo arrived at Brussels International Airport on Saturday evening local time. He was received by François Delhaye, Director General for Asia and Oceania at the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Indonesian Ambassador to Belgium, Andri Hadi.
Upon his arrival, members of the Indonesian diaspora gathered at the president’s hotel in Brussels to warmly welcome him, reflecting strong support from the overseas community.
During his visit, President Prabowo is slated to meet with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President António Costa. Discussions are expected to focus on strengthening Indonesia–EU strategic cooperation across various sectors, including trade, investment, climate action, and digital transformation.
The President will also visit the Royal Palace of Laeken for an audience with King Philippe of Belgium. The meeting is anticipated to deepen bilateral relations and explore new avenues of collaboration between Indonesia and Belgium, particularly in economic, cultural, and technological domains.
Ahead of the President’s arrival, several senior Indonesian ministers had already landed in Brussels to prepare for the visit. These include Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Investment and Downstreaming Rosan Roeslani, and Trade Minister Budi Santoso.
Following his engagements in Belgium, President Prabowo is scheduled to travel to France to attend the Bastille Day commemoration on July 14, at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron. His participation marks a gesture of friendship and growing defense and diplomatic cooperation between Indonesia and France.
