President Prabowo Calls Newly Elected Regional Leaders to Participate in Leadership Retreat

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: President Prabowo Subianto urged the 961 newly inaugurated regional leaders, elected during last year’s simultaneous local elections, to prepare for a retreat at the Military Academy in Magelang, Central Java. The group comprises governors, mayors, district heads, and their deputies, all of whom were officially inducted during a ceremony at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Thursday.
In his remarks following the induction, President Prabowo emphasized the importance of the upcoming retreat, scheduled for February 21-28, and expressed hope that the new local leaders would engage fully in all activities planned during the event. He noted, “I think my speech here will not be a lengthy one since we will soon meet in a retreat to be organized by the Home Affairs Minister in Magelang. I will meet you there, and hopefully, you are strong enough to undertake the agenda.”
The president made it clear that participation was voluntary, adding, “Those feeling hesitant to accept my invitation to the Military Academy are welcome to back down.”
Before concluding his address, Prabowo reminded the regional leaders of their duty to serve the people, urging them to dedicate their efforts to working in the best interests of their constituents. “Let us all serve the people by doing our best for them,” he said, reinforcing the importance of public service.
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Bima Arya Sugiarto provided insights into the retreat’s agenda, noting that at least 40 speakers had been invited to brief the regional heads on key topics. He also mentioned that while the original plan to include all 48 ministers of the Red and White Cabinet had been shelved due to scheduling constraints, speakers from the National Resilience Institute (Lemhannas) would address essential matters during the retreat.
The leadership retreat is expected to play a pivotal role in preparing the newly elected local leaders to effectively govern and serve their communities in the coming years.
