President Prabowo Chairs Strategic Meeting on Agriculture, Energy, and Infrastructure

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto on Thursday convened a high-level meeting with economic ministers and agency heads to deliberate on strategic initiatives in agriculture, renewable energy, and infrastructure development. The session took place at the president’s residence in Hambalang, West Java, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya announced via Instagram.

In the agricultural sector, President Prabowo underscored the urgent need to address challenges in cassava, tapioca, and sweet potato production. He emphasized closer coordination with regional authorities and industry stakeholders to modernize cultivation and improve the welfare of farmers.

Energy discussions focused on advancing molasses-based production from sugarcane byproducts and broadening rural electrification through solar power. Prabowo instructed Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund, Danantara, to develop a prototype for solar-powered electricity systems, targeted for pilot deployment in select regions within the next three to five months.

The meeting also reviewed plans for constructing a giant sea wall along Java’s northern coast, a large-scale project projected to benefit nearly 50 million residents. The initiative aims to bolster infrastructure resilience and safeguard coastal communities from erosion and the effects of climate change.

Wijaya highlighted that the meeting reflects the government’s integrated approach to agricultural modernization, renewable energy expansion, and infrastructure development, designed to simultaneously strengthen economic growth and address environmental challenges.
