President Prabowo Issues Directives to Advance Sekolah Rakyat Program

President Prabowo

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: President Prabowo Subianto has issued key directives to Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf to strengthen the development and implementation of the Sekolah Rakyat (People’s School) program.

The directives were conveyed during Minister Yusuf’s visit to the President’s private residence in Hambalang, West Java, on Sunday.

“Alhamdulillah, today I, along with the core team from the Ministry of Social Affairs, had the opportunity to present a detailed report on the implementation of Sekolah Rakyat, including the recent progress and the challenges faced during its process,” Minister Yusuf said in a statement.

He added that the President emphasized the need for comprehensive planning to ensure the program’s long-term success, while also expressing appreciation to all parties who have supported the pilot implementation this year. The Minister reaffirmed his commitment to officially launch the program once all technical and institutional aspects are fully prepared.

Prof. Mohammad Nuh, Head of the Sekolah Rakyat Formulation Team, noted that the program has now entered the phase of actual implementation after a period of conceptual development.

“Previously, we were still in the stage of formulating ideas and concepts, but now is the actual execution. We’ve seen the Ministry of Social Affairs team and its partnership go all out to successfully implement this,” Nuh stated.

He stressed the importance of adhering to three key principles in the program’s rollout: measurability, accessibility, and accountability. Programs must have clear, systematic indicators of success; ensure broad and realistic access, particularly for vulnerable communities; and maintain transparent evaluation and reporting of outcomes.

According to Nuh, the first key performance indicators of success are expected to emerge within the next three months, during the first academic semester, and will be made public.

“The Ministry of Social Affairs is fully committed to ensuring that Sekolah Rakyat operates effectively and remains accountable to the public,” he affirmed.
