President Prabowo Urges Collective Effort to Ensure Economic Stability

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Indonesia’s Finance Minister, Sri Mulyani Indrawati, has reiterated President Prabowo Subianto’s call for all stakeholders to work collaboratively to maintain the stability of Indonesia’s national economy amid ongoing global uncertainties.

Speaking at the opening of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) 2025 Trading on Thursday, Indrawati conveyed the President’s message, stating, “In 2025, we should raise a sense of optimism in maintaining a stronger, more resilient economy that brings prosperity to the community, even in the face of an unpredictable global economy.”

Minister Indrawati emphasized that Indonesia’s wealth of natural resources and its favorable geostrategic position provide a solid foundation for economic growth. She also reminded stakeholders of the responsibility entrusted by Indonesia’s founders to manage the economy with a focus on kinship, urging current leaders to prioritize the welfare of all Indonesians.

She highlighted that the country’s progress depends on the commitment of all parties to improving, strengthening, and driving national development. In line with the President’s vision, she stressed that the financial services sector should align with government efforts to bolster the economy and improve the livelihoods of the people.

Reflecting on the challenges of 2024, Indrawati acknowledged that both the government and the financial services sector faced significant obstacles, particularly in the first half of the year. However, she noted that by August, signs of recovery had begun to emerge, marking a turning point for Indonesia’s economic outlook.

The minister also praised the positive performance of the 2024 State Budget, which concluded in a healthy and secure manner as the new year approached. She reported that state revenues in 2024 continued to show an upward trajectory, while state spending was also substantial.

“The 2024 state budget deficit is nearly in line with the initial projections in the state budget law. This is an extraordinary result, much lower than the 2.7 percent deficit predicted in the semester report. This indicates that our state budget concluded in 2024 in a relatively healthy and safe position,” she stated.
