Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has reaffirmed his commitment to eradicating corruption, vowing to take firm action against individuals who disrupt government programs aimed at improving public welfare.
During his first 100 days in office, President Prabowo has repeatedly emphasized the importance of maintaining a clean and corruption-free government. Addressing an audience at the 102nd anniversary commemoration of Nahdlatul Ulama on Wednesday evening, he stated his unwavering stance against those who oppose and obstruct government initiatives.
“I will take action against anyone who is disobedient,” President Prabowo declared in his speech.
The President acknowledged that certain parties have ridiculed and opposed various government programs. While he has chosen to remain silent in the face of such resistance, he has urged cabinet ministers and institutional leaders to engage in self-reflection and correct any errors in their administration.
Prabowo emphasized his primary focus on rallying support for initiatives that enhance public welfare. However, he warned that he would not hesitate to take decisive measures against corrupt individuals who attempt to sabotage these efforts.
“I have asked all government officials and institutions to clean themselves up before they are cleaned up!” he cautioned.
President Prabowo has consistently reiterated his commitment to leading Indonesia towards a corruption-free future. During a national coordination meeting last November, he identified four major challenges hindering the nation’s prosperity: online gambling, drug trafficking, smuggling, and corruption.
He highlighted that potential state revenue losses from online gambling alone amounted to Rp981 trillion (over US$60 billion), while losses from illegal mining were estimated at around US$7 billion—comparable to the annual budget leakage.
Prabowo stressed that effectively addressing these challenges is essential for Indonesia’s progress and prosperity under his leadership.
